This American bolo knife features a heavy, curved steel blade showing a grey age patina. The hilt is composed of a contoured wooden handle secured by brass pins and a steel crossguard, paired with a brass-mounted leather scabbard. Introduced in 1909, the Model 1909 bolo was manufactured by the Springfield Armory for the United States Army. It served as a utility tool in tropical climates and a combat sidearm for infantry crews during the First World War. The blade ricasso is stamped "U.S." and "S.A. 1912" with serial number 13882. The wooden grip is structurally sound, and the leather scabbard retains its brass belt hanger.
