This Prussian dress bayonet features a long steel blade with etched scrollwork, showing a bright finish. The hilt has an S-shaped brass guard and a ribbed brass grip, paired with a leather scabbard featuring brass mounts, leather frog, and wool troddel. Introduced in 1871, this Model 1871 dress bayonet was worn by Prussian infantrymen with their walking-out uniforms. The weapon served as a symbol of pride, featuring decorative etchings distinguishing it from combat-issue bayonets. The blade is etched with military trophies and Kaiser emblems. The brass hilt and fittings show a warm patina, and the wool troddel remains wrapped around the frog loop.
