This German Ersatz bayonet features a single-edged steel blade showing age patina. The hilt is constructed from cast steel with a pressed grip painted green, accompanied by a matching steel scabbard with a wire belt hanger. Introduced in 1915, this Ersatz bayonet was produced to meet weapon shortages in the German Imperial Army during the First World War. Manufactured using simplified methods, these weapons fit the Gewehr 98 rifle and served as trench knives. The blade spine is stamped with a faint Erfurt inspection mark. The hilt features a functional locking button, and the steel scabbard shows light surface wear and minor oxidation.
