This Japanese sword features a straight, chrome-plated steel blade with a single fuller. The brass hilt has an ornate D-guard, wire-wrapped black grip, and cherry blossom pommel, accompanied by a chrome-plated steel scabbard. Dating to the Second World War, this sword was worn by Imperial Japanese Army officers for parades and ceremonial dress. Modeled after European sabers, the parade sword was a symbol of rank rather than a battlefield combat weapon. The guard is stamped with cherry blossom motifs and Imperial emblems. The blade retains its polished appearance. The hilt is tight, and the scabbard fits the blade perfectly, showing minor oxidation on the drag.
