This Japanese police dagger features a short steel blade showing a clean polished finish. The hilt is composed of a brass crossguard, wire-wrapped horn grip, and brass pommel, paired with a matching brass scabbard featuring foliage engravings. Dating to the early World War II period, this Tanto-style dagger was the standard sidearm for officers of the Imperial Japanese Police. Inspired by traditional samurai weapons, this dagger served as a symbol of authority during the wartime regime. The blade features a visible temper line. The guard and pommel are cast with the police insignia. The brass scabbard has a single suspension ring and a functional throat locking clip.
