Original German S&K Solingen 1840s Dirk Dagger
RARE Antique German S&K Solingen Dirk / Dagger ca.1840s with Scabbard – Early 19th Century Collectible
Description:
Authentic and very rare German dagger (dirk) made by the famous Solingen firm Schnitzler & Kirschbaum (S&K), dating to the mid-19th century (circa 1835–1860).
The blade bears the clear S & K / SOLINGEN maker’s mark — one of the earliest and most recognized Solingen trademarks. This company supplied edged weapons and fine cutlery worldwide and was active until about 1864, when it merged into the later Weyersberg & Kirschbaum (WKC) concern.
The dagger features a polished double-edged blade, an elegant crossguard with ball finials, and a beautifully shaped black carved wooden grip (possibly ebonized hardwood). The original scabbard is included, with brass fittings and leather body.
This example represents a classic early 19th-century European gentleman’s or naval-style dirk, typical of the period and highly collectible today.
