This Japanese parade saber features a straight, chrome-plated steel blade. The brass hilt has an ornate knuckle guard, wire-wrapped horn grip, and cherry blossom pommel cap, paired with a chrome-plated steel scabbard having a single suspension ring. Dating to the Second World War, this saber was carried by Japanese officers for parades and ceremonial duties. Modeled after European designs, these swords represented the modernization of the military while retaining traditional motifs of the samurai class. The guard and backstrap are cast with detailed cherry blossom emblems. The horn grip is intact, and the scabbard retains its bright finish, with minor oxidation near the throat.
