This Soviet cavalry sword features a curved steel blade with a single fuller, showing age-related discoloration. The hilt is composed of a ribbed wooden grip and a brass pommel with no handguard, paired with a leather-covered wooden scabbard. Adopted in 1927, this shashka served as the standard sidearm for Soviet cavalry units during the interwar period and the Second World War. Designed for rapid slashing attacks from horseback, it represents the last era of cavalry combat. The brass pommel is stamped with the Soviet hammer and sickle emblem. The scabbard features a brass throat, bayonet bracket, and chape, and the leather covering remains intact with minor scuffs.
