This German bayonet features a straight steel blade with a single fuller, showing a dark grey patina. The hilt is composed of a steel pommel, crossguard, and wooden grips, paired with a matching steel scabbard. Manufactured in 1917, this Model 84/98 bayonet was designed for the Mauser Gewehr 98 rifle during the First World War. Produced in Solingen by Hammesfahr, it was standard issue for German infantry troops. The blade ricasso is stamped with the maker mark "Gottlieb Hammesfahr, Solingen". The spine is stamped with the year "17," and the wooden grips are structurally tight.
