This Belgian cavalry saber features a curved, single-edged steel blade with a single fuller, showing age-related patina and minor staining. The brass hilt has a three-branch guard and a wire-wrapped leather grip. The matching steel scabbard has a single suspension ring. Dating to the reign of King Leopold II in the late 19th century, this saber is a Belgian adaptation of the French Model 1822 pattern. It was carried by cavalry officers, representing the military alliance and shared design traditions of France and Belgium. The blade ricasso is stamped with Belgian military inspection marks. The brass hilt has a warm patina, and the leather wrap on the grip remains intact. The steel scabbard fits the blade tightly.
