German WW1 Bavarian Ulanen Officer Sword

This Bavarian officer sword features a straight, triple-etched steel blade showing minor age staining. The steel guard has a folding section and wire-wrapped shagreen grip, accompanied by a black-painted steel scabbard. Dating to the First World War, this sword was carried by an officer of the Bavarian Ulanen lancer regiment. As light cavalry, the Ulanen carried lances and sabers, and this weapon served as a symbol of status. The blade is decorated with etched cavalry motifs and the Bavarian military motto. The folding guard features the Bavarian crest, and the shagreen grip remains intact.
