This German cavalry sword features a slightly curved, single-edged steel blade with a single fuller, showing age-related patina and minor pitting. The steel hilt consists of a heavy three-branch guard, a leather grip wrapped in wire, and a pommel. The matching steel scabbard has two suspension rings. Manufactured in Solingen during the mid-19th century by Schnitzler & Kirschbaum (S&K), this sword was designed for heavy cavalry units. These robust swords were carried by troopers during European conflicts, designed for slashing attacks from horseback. The blade ricasso is stamped with the "S&K" manufacturer logo. The steel guard and pommel show a grey patina with minor handling scuffs. The scabbard is robust and fits the blade tightly.
