Rare early Japanese M1889 Navy Prison Guard / Shore Patrol sword, complete with its original metal scabbard and accompanying leather tassel. These early naval sidearms were issued to shore-based security personnel, prison guards, and patrol units during the late Meiji–Taishō periods. This example shows correct early features, solid construction, and a clean, authentic presentation.

Features

• Authentic M1889 Japanese Navy Prison Guard / Shore Patrol sword • Original steel scabbard included • Comes with leather tassel (tied sword knot) • Straight machine-made blade with fuller • Sturdy naval-style hilt and guard • Early-production pattern with correct fittings

Condition

• Blade shows age-appropriate patina, overall, the condition is excellent. • Hilt and guard with expected wear from age and service • Leather tassel intact with normal aging • Scabbard solid, with surface wear consistent with period use

Notes

Genuine M1889 naval police / shore patrol swords are much harder to find than standard guntō models. An excellent addition for collectors of Japanese militaria, naval history, and late Meiji–Taishō edged weapons.
