This Japanese sword features a straight steel blade. The brass hilt has an ornate D-guard, wire-wrapped leather grip, and cherry blossom pommel, complete with a fabric tassel and steel scabbard having a single suspension ring. Adopted in 1889, this sword was carried by Japanese Navy shore patrol officers. Inspired by European designs, this pattern served as a symbol of naval authority during the late Meiji and Showa eras. The brass guard is stamped with cherry blossom motifs and naval anchors. The leather grip wrap is intact, the scabbard fits perfectly, and the fabric tassel remains attached.
