British Royal Navy Mid-19th Century Dagger
This British naval dagger features a straight, single-edged etched steel blade showing age-related patina and minor staining. The hilt consists of a brass crossguard, a wire-wrapped ivory-colored grip, and a crown pommel. The leather scabbard has brass throat and chape fittings. Dating to the mid-19th century, this dagger was carried by midshipmen or officers of the British Royal Navy as a personal sidearm. These weapons served for close-quarters defense onboard warships and as symbols of rank during the Victorian era's maritime expeditions. The blade is etched with naval anchors and floral scrollwork. The brass crossguard and pommel show a warm patina, and the grip wrap is secure. The leather scabbard remains flexible with minor surface cracks.
