German WWI Erfurt 1915 M1884/98 Bayonet with Knot

This combat bayonet is fitted with a steel blade, wooden grip scales, and a rare leather scabbard with iron fittings. The blade shows minor handling marks and a dark, untouched patina. Manufactured at the royal Erfurt Arsenal in 1915, this M1884/98 second-pattern bayonet was issued to German troops during the early years of the First World War. It represents a transition in German infantry sidearm production. The spine of the blade is stamped with the crowned royal cypher of Erfurt and the year 1915. The set is complete with an original leather frog and a unit-marked textile troddel (knot).
