This officer's sword features a deeply curved, single-edged steel blade, a brass crossguard with langets, and a horn grip of Ottoman shamshir style. The blade shows historic pitting and gray patina. Popularized during the Napoleonic Wars, mameluke-style sabers were adopted by European officers following the French campaign in Egypt. This weapon reflects the orientalist fashion prevalent among Russian and European elites. The hilt is constructed with two horn grip scales secured by brass rivets, showing natural wear. The blade is unsigned but displays typical early 19th-century forge lines and hand-finishing marks.
