US War of 1812 Mounted Artillery Sword

Offered here is an original antique American Mounted Artillery Officer’s sword, dating to the War of 1812 period. This early U.S. military sword features a decorative etched blade with remnants of original blueing and gilt, a highly desirable characteristic of officer-grade presentation weapons from the early 19th century.

The blade shows period etching with patriotic and martial motifs, with traces of gold wash and blue finish still visible, consistent with age and historical use. The hilt is of traditional mounted artillery form, reflecting officer-quality construction rather than a regulation enlisted weapon.

Overall condition is good antique condition, showing honest wear, age patina, and signs of use appropriate for a sword over 200 years old. No modern alterations are noted. This is a genuine historical piece, not a reproduction.
