This officer's sword features a straight steel blade with faint etchings, a gilded brass hilt with a detailed eagle head pommel, and a bone grip. The brass scabbard shows minor dents. Carried by American officers during the Mexican-American War of 1846-1848, this eagle head sword was a symbol of national pride and military authority during the expansion era of the United States. The bone grip scales are intact, exhibiting a warm cream patina and typical micro-cracks from age. The blade displays remnants of original etching with a dark grey patina overall.
