This early American sword features a straight steel blade with etched detailing, a brass hilt with an eagle head pommel, and a bone grip. The brass-mounted leather scabbard shows minor wear. Produced by the famous military outfitter Horstmann in Philadelphia during the mid-19th century, this sword was carried by militia or regular officers. It represents early American military craftsmanship. The blade displays etched patriotic symbols and floral scrolls, showing light grey spotting. The bone grip scales are intact and secured by a brass ferrule, with the hilt assembly remaining solid.
