Original U.S. Pre-Civil War M1830 Officer’s Eagle Head Sword – Ivory Grip, Engraved Blade, Leather Scabbard w/ Brass Fittings

Up for sale is an authentic U.S. Officer’s Sword, Model 1830, dating to the pre-Civil War period. This fine early American sword features the iconic eagle head pommel, a richly engraved blade, and its original leather scabbard with brass fittings – making it a highly collectible early 19th-century military artifact.

Period: Pre-Civil War (circa 1830s–1850s)

Model: M1830 Eagle Head Officer’s Sword

Blade: Straight single-edged blade with fuller, beautifully engraved with patriotic motifs; age patina and light wear consistent with 19th-century use.

Hilt: Distinctive eagle head pommel with crossguard; elegant ivory grip.

Scabbard: Original leather sheath with brass fittings and suspension mount, showing honest service .

Condition: Very good antique condition. Blade engraving visible; ivory grip solid,scabbard complete and structurally sound with aged patina.  Collectors’ Note: Eagle head pommel swords were symbols of prestige among American officers during the early 19th century. Original examples with ivory grips, engraved blades, and complete leather scabbards are particularly scarce and highly desirable to collectors of U.S. military antiques.
