British M1803 Cavalry Officer Sword

This Napoleonic-era cavalry sword features a curved steel blade, a gilded brass guard with a lion head pommel, and a shagreen-wrapped grip. The leather-covered wooden scabbard is fitted with gilded brass mounts. Adopted by the British Army in 1803, this pattern was carried by cavalry officers during the Napoleonic Wars. It is recognized as one of the most distinctive and decorative British military sword patterns. The blade is engraved with the royal cypher and floral scrollwork, showing a dark gray patina. The shagreen grip wrap is complete and secured by copper wire, and the hilt shows trace gilding.
