Up for sale is an authentic British Cavalry Officer’s Sword, Model 1803, complete with its scabbard. This fine early 19th-century sword was manufactured in Solingen and features a bone grip wrapped in wire, making it a highly desirable collector’s piece.
Period: Early 19th century (Napoleonic Wars era, ca. 1803–1815)
Model: M1803 British Cavalry Officer’s Sword
Blade: Curved single-edged blade with fuller, engraved with floral and military motifs; shows age patina and light wear consistent with 200+ years.
Hilt: Brass guard with distinctive lion’s-head pommel and knuckle bow; bone handle wrapped in twisted wire, secure and intact.
Scabbard:Leather sheath with beautiful gilded fittings scabbard with twin suspension rings, showing natural patina and minor service dents.
Maker: Marked Solingen, a renowned German center for high-quality sword production.
Dimensions: Overall length approx 34 inches, blade length approx 28 1/2 inches.
Condition: Very good antique condition. Blade etching remains visible, grip and wire wrap secure, hilt solid. Scabbard original, showing expected wear from age.
