This heavy cavalry sword features a straight steel blade, a large steel basket guard, and a ribbed grip. The black-painted steel scabbard shows light surface wear and minor paint loss. Issued to officers of the Bavarian Cuirassier regiments during the late Imperial era, this Model 1898 sword was produced by Carl Eickhorn of Solingen. It was used by heavy cavalry units. The blade is double-etched with Bavarian military scrollwork and mottoes, remaining clean and legible. The ricasso bears the Eickhorn squirrel trademark, and the steel hilt assembly remains tight and secure.
