Up for sale is an original Bavarian Model 1898 Cuirassier Officer’s Sword, complete with its scabbard. This fine example was produced for heavy cavalry officers of the Bavarian army around the turn of the 20th century.
Maker: Marked C.E. (Carl Eickhorn, Solingen), renowned German sword maker
Blade: Long, straight double-fullered blade, beautifully double etched with military motifs and decorative panels
Hilt: guard with pierced design and Bavarian insignia; grip bound in wire over composite material
Scabbard: Original steel scabbard with one suspension rings, age-appropriate patina and light wear
Condition: Very good antique condition – blade etching sharp and visible, hilt solid, scabbard complete with normal service wear. A classic example of an Imperial German cavalry officer’s sword, prized for its elegant double etching and association with the elite cuirassier regiments of Bavaria.
