This military shashka features a slightly curved single-edged steel blade with a wide fuller. The hilt has a ribbed wooden grip and brass guard with imperial inspection stamps. The steel blade shows age-appropriate oxidation and fine pitting but remains structurally sound. Produced by the Zlatoust Arms Factory in 1905, this model 1881 sword was issued to Russian Imperial cavalry regiments. It saw extensive service during the Russo-Japanese War and the First World War before the 1917 revolution. The pommel is stamped with the Imperial Zlatoust factory marks and the production year of 1905. It lacks a traditional crossguard and is accompanied by a wooden scabbard wrapped in black leather.
