This hunting short sword features a straight, double-edged steel blade with a diamond cross-section. The hilt is composed of a carved ebony grip and a brass crossguard with shell-shaped terminals. The blade shows clean surfaces with minor age spotting. Dating to the early nineteenth century, this weapon was manufactured in Solingen for the French market. Hunting daggers of this type were carried by noble sportsmen and foresters as secondary weapons. The brass crossguard is decorated with hunting motifs, including forest scenes. The sword is housed in a brass-fitted leather scabbard with a secure frog button.
