Antique French Officer’s Sword, 19th Century – Solingen Blade (Western & Co.) Rare authentic French officer’s sword from the 19th century, featuring a German-made blade. A fine example of European military craftsmanship, highly collectible. Hilt: Brass guard with pierced floral and military motifs, decorated with shield and banners; bone grip in very good shape. Blade: Straight, double fuller, clearly marked “WESTERN & Co. SÖLINGEN”, produced in Solingen, Germany – one of the most famous arms manufacturing centers of Europe Condition: Good for its age, with natural patina on hilt and blade. Signs of age and wear consistent with an authentic 19th-century antique. These swords were carried by French officers in the mid-19th century, often with imported Solingen blades. This piece combines French military style with German quality steel and would make an excellent addition to any collection of antique swords, Napoleonic relics, or Civil War–era militaria.
