Original German WW1 S98 Bayonet with Erfurt Markings
This is an authentic Model 1898 Seitengewehr S98/05 bayonet in well-preserved vintage condition. The piece features a carbon steel blade with its original profile, fitted with grooved wooden grip scales and a steel crossguard. It is accompanied by its corresponding metal-mounted leather scabbard. Designed as standard issue for the Imperial German Army during World War I, this bayonet was primarily paired with the Gewehr 98 bolt-action rifle. The manufacturer markings indicate production at the Royal Erfurt Arsenal, a major supplier of military arms to Prussia. The ricasso bears the distinct Erfurt crown stamps and inspection marks. The wooden grips show honest wear and minor bruising from active service. The metal scabbard retains its structural integrity with a natural dark patina.
