Original British-Import Brunswick Civil War Bayonet

An antique Brunswick rifle bayonet in good structural condition. The piece consists of a heavy, double-edged steel blade with a short fuller, paired with a solid brass ribbed grip and a brass crossguard with a muzzle ring attachment. Imported from Great Britain during the American Civil War, this Brunswick-style bayonet short sword was utilized by both Union and Confederate forces. It represents the global arms trade that supplied the conflict's massive demand for weapons. The brass hilt is securely attached to the tang, displaying a dark, uncleaned mustard patina. The steel blade has turned a dull grey color, showing scattered oxidation and minor pitting commensurate with its battlefield history.
