An authentic Model 1909 military bolo knife in excellent antique condition. The knife features a heavy, leaf-shaped steel blade, a brass guard, and a robust wooden grip secured by screws. It is complete with its original leather scabbard manufactured by Rock Island Arsenal. Produced by the Springfield Armory in 1912, this bolo knife was initially issued to U.S. Army troops in the Philippines and later used by machine gun crews in World War I for clearing brush and constructing defensive emplacements. The blade is marked with the Springfield Armory emblem and the year "1912" on one side, and the serial number and "U.S." on the reverse. The leather scabbard is dated and bears the Rock Island Arsenal stamps.
