An original U.S. Model 1832 Foot Artillery short sword without a scabbard. The sword is in good condition, featuring a solid brass hilt and a heavy, double-edged steel blade. Based on the Roman gladius, the Model 1832 was issued to foot artillery units in the United States military from the Seminole Wars through the American Civil War. The heavy brass hilt features a fish-scale grip pattern and an eagle emblem stamped on the pommel.
