An authentic Japanese Type 32 (Model 1889) cavalry saber in excellent military condition. The sword features a machine-manufactured single-edged steel blade, a large steel hand guard with checkering, and a checkered wooden grip. It comes with its original matching steel scabbard. Introduced during the Meiji period, the Type 32 saber was the standard sidearm for Japanese cavalry troops and remained in service through the Russo-Japanese War and World War II. It represents Japan's modernization of its military equipment. The blade ricasso is stamped with the Tokyo Arsenal logo and military inspection marks. The locking mechanism that secures the sword to the scabbard is fully functional, and both pieces exhibit matching serial numbers.
