Original Spanish Toledo Officer Sword Dated 1868
An antique Spanish military officer's sword from the late nineteenth century. The sword features a straight, single-edged steel blade with decorative etching, a detailed brass guard, and a wire-wrapped leather grip. It is complete with its original steel scabbard. Manufactured by the Fábrica de Toledo in Spain, this sword is associated with the period of political unrest in Spain during the 1860s and 1870s, including the Third Carlist War. Toledo blades were celebrated globally for their military precision and steel strength. The blade ricasso is stamped with the royal crown insignia of the Toledo factory and the date of manufacture. The brass guard has developed a dark mustard patina, and the steel scabbard remains solid with light surface oxidation.
