Original Austrian M1869 Cavalry Officer Sword

An antique Austro-Hungarian cavalry officer's sword, Model 1869, in original condition. The saber features a wide, curved steel blade with extensive double-sided etching, a steel hand guard, and a textured grip. It is complete with its original steel scabbard. Carried by cavalry officers of the Austro-Hungarian Empire during the late nineteenth century, this sword represents the classic cavalry arm of the dual monarchy. The etched details on the blade were custom-ordered by officers to denote their rank and unit. The blade retains exceptionally crisp etched floral scrolls and military motifs. The steel hand guard shows a smooth, uncleaned patina, and the steel scabbard is structurally sound with minor age staining.
