This German cavalry officer sword features a slightly curved steel blade with a triple-etched design, showing minor age spots. The brass basket hilt is fitted with a folding guard and wire-wrapped composite grip, paired with a black-painted steel scabbard. Dating to the First World War, this sword was produced in Solingen for a cavalry officer. Although cavalry charges were rare on the Western Front, swords remained symbols of command authority and prestige on the Eastern Front and in ceremonial duties. The blade is adorned with etched military trophies and floral scrollwork. The folding guard features the Imperial German eagle emblem. The hilt has a pommel cap, and the scabbard is equipped with a single metal suspension ring.
