Original WWII Soviet Russian NR-40 Scout/Reconnaissance Knife (“Nozh Razvedchika”) – Dated 1944, Maker ZIK (Zlatoust Instrument-Making Plant), with Original Wooden Scabbard

Offered for sale is a very rare WWII Soviet NR-40 combat knife, produced in 1944 at the famous ZIK – Zlatoust Instrument-Making Factory. This was the standard issue scout/recon knife used by Soviet reconnaissance and special forces units during the Second World War.

Blade: Single-edged, combat blade with the distinctive ricasso and clipped point typical of the NR-40 pattern; clean with patina and period wear

Handle: Original wooden grip with integral crossguard (“reversed quillon”) design — comfortable and solid

Scabbard: Original wartime wooden scabbard with metal throat and fittings; intact and fits the knife perfectly

Markings: ZIK factory stamp and 1944 date on the ricasso

Condition: Good condition for age — showing wea The NR-40 (“Scout Knife 1940”) became an iconic weapon of Soviet scouts and partisans during WWII, symbolizing the elite reconnaissance units of the Red Army. Produced primarily at the Zlatoust and Trud plants, surviving authentic wartime examples — especially dated 1944 with wooden scabbards — are extremely hard to find.
