Original German WW1 M1898/05 Butcher Bayonet

This German bayonet features a wide steel blade flaring near the tip, showing age staining. The hilt has grooved wooden grip scales and a steel crossguard, accompanied by a matching steel scabbard showing a dark patina. Designated the Model 1898/05 and called the "Butcher" bayonet due to its cleaver-like shape, this weapon was designed for the Gewehr 98 rifle. It served as the primary infantry bayonet for the German Army during the First World War. The ricasso is marked with the maker name "Fichtel & Sachs, Schweinfurt". The blade spine is stamped with an Imperial inspection mark, and the wooden grip is contoured to provide a secure hold.
