A cookie is a short piece of text a site asks your browser to keep and to send back on the next page. This page lists every cookie ww-steel.com sets, what each one is for, and how long it lasts.
Necessary cookies are always set: without them you could not sign in, and we could not remember that you had answered this question. Everything else waits for you.
In the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, nothing in the two tables below is set until you say yes on the banner. Elsewhere the analytics cookies are set by default, and you can turn them off at any time — use Cookie settings at the foot of any page. Whatever you choose there is honoured wherever you are reading from.
| Name | What it is for | How long |
|---|---|---|
| wws_consent | What you chose on the cookie banner. Without it you would be asked again on every page. | 400 days |
| wws_ask | A single flag saying the banner still owes you a question. It holds no identifier. | Until the browser closes |
| next-auth session and CSRF cookies | Keeps you signed in, and stops a form on another site from acting as you. Set only if you have an account. | The signed-in session |
| admin_products_view | Remembers whether the catalogue tools open as a table or a grid. Set only for a signed-in administrator. | 1 year |
These count how many people read a page, which pieces are opened, how far down a page a reader gets, and which search or link brought them here. They tell us nothing about who you are.
| Name | What it is for | How long |
|---|---|---|
| wws_vid | A random identifier for this browser, so somebody who comes back over several weeks is counted as one reader rather than four. | 400 days |
| wws_sid | Groups the pages read in one sitting. | 30 minutes of inactivity |
| wws_fc | The kind of link a first visit arrived through — a search, a social post, a newsletter. | 400 days |
| wws_ut | Whether the reader is a visitor, has an account, or has written to us. Never anything you typed. | 400 days |
| wws_link | Ties the identifier above to your account when you sign in. Readable by the server only. | 400 days |
| _ga, _ga_* | Google Analytics. Set by Google when analytics is allowed, and not before. | Up to 2 years |
If you allow it, and only then, an advertising platform may set a cookie so it can tell us that one of its links reached the archive. When a campaign link is used, the identifier it carries in the address is stored with the record of that visit for the same reason. No advertising cookie is set while you have advertising switched off.
The list of pieces you are gathering an enquiry around, and the pieces you have saved, are held in your own browser and are never sent to us until you write. Our page-speed and visitor-count measurement from Vercel sets no cookies at all.
A visit — the page you arrived on and the link that brought you — is deleted after 38 months. The individual actions recorded during it are deleted after 25 months. Both are removed automatically rather than on request.
Cookie settings at the foot of any page reopens the same panel the banner shows, with your current answer in it. Turning analytics off there also deletes the cookies listed above from this browser. Your browser can block or delete cookies on its own, and nothing on this site depends on your not doing so, apart from staying signed in.
Questions about any of this go to info@ww-steel.com. The rest of what the site does and does not do is on the Terms of Use page.
