Antique Napoleonic French Cavalry Officer’s Sabre – Engraved Blade, First Empire
Up for sale is a Napoleonic French Cavalry Officer’s Sabre, dating to the First Empire period (early 19th century). This fine example features an engraved blade and classic officer’s hilt design, making it a highly desirable piece of Napoleonic militaria.
Origin: France, First Empire (Napoleonic era)
Blade: Curved, single-edged blade with fuller, beautifully engraved with floral and military motifs; age patina and light wear consistent with 200+ years of history.
Hilt: Brass guard with knuckle bow and ornate detailing; grip retains wrapping (see photos for condition).
Scabbard:Leather sheath with brass fittings
Dimensions: Overall length approx 38 1/2 inches, blade length approx 31 3/4 inches.
Condition: Very good antique condition. Blade engraving visible, hilt solid, patina consistent with age. Collectors’ Note: Officer sabres of the Napoleonic period are increasingly hard to find, particularly those retaining engraved blades.
