German WW2 Kriegsmarine Naval Officer’s Sword w/ Scabbard – by E. & F. Hörster, Solingen
Up for sale is a World War II German Kriegsmarine Naval Officer’s Sword, manufactured by the renowned maker E. & F. Hörster, Solingen. This is a fine example of a naval officer’s dress sword, complete with its scabbard.
Maker: E. & F. Hörster, Solingen (ricasso marked)
Blade: Blade retains much of its finish, showing only light age patina.
Hilt: Brass lion-head pommel, fouled anchor guard, and beige grip (see photos for detail).
Scabbard: Gilt brass scabbard with twin suspension rings, decorated with raised naval motifs. Condition The leather on the scabbard shows signs of shrinkage, which indicates a reduction in length and the absence of fixation of the upper fitting and guard..consistent with age, minor wear present.
Dimensions: Overall length approx 37inches, blade length approx 31 inches.
Condition: Very good condition overall, hilt solid, grip intact, and scabbard complete. Some honest patina and age wear, as expected.
