RARE ANTIQUE THAI ARMY / NAVY OFFICER DRESS SWORD A rare and highly distinctive antique Thai military officer’s dress sword, featuring an impressive elephant-head pommel and scabbard. An unusual and desirable example for collectors of Asian military swords and ceremonial arms. The sword retains its leather scabbard with brass fittings, several of which preserve areas of gilding. A number is present on both the scabbard fitting and the guard, adding an interesting identifying detail to the piece. The blade is in good overall condition, with natural signs of age visible in some areas, consistent with an antique of this period. The grip is beautifully finished in shagreen (ray skin) with twisted wire wrapping, providing both an attractive appearance and the characteristic texture associated with these swords. The guard features a folding knuckle bow that securely locks the blade into the scabbard, while the distinctive elephant-head pommel gives the sword its unmistakable character. Condition: Antique condition with natural age-related wear and patina. The blade remains in good condition with some areas showing signs of age. The leather scabbard and brass fittings exhibit appropriate wear, with surviving areas of gilding. Please carefully review all photographs for the overall condition and details.
