WWI German 84/98 Mauser Bayonet – 1917 – Gottlieb Hammesfahr, Solingen – Rare – With Scabbard
Offered for sale is a WWI German Model 84/98 Mauser bayonet, dated 1917, and manufactured by the rare maker Gottlieb Hammesfahr, Solingen (Foche).
Hammesfahr is a less commonly encountered producer, making this example particularly desirable among collectors of Imperial German edged weapons.
The bayonet is in very good condition, especially for its age. The steel blade remains clean, with only light signs of wear. All correct markings are present and clearly visible, including the maker’s mark and date, along with appropriate military inspection stamps.
The hilt and fittings are solid, showing a nice, honest patina. The bayonet is accompanied by its scabbard, which fits properly and is also in very good condition, with expected age-related wear.
